smartpond® Water Clarifier works by causing small floating particles to clump together and fall to the bottom of the pond, thus clearing the cloudy haze.

Cloudy water is typically caused by organic growth. This is usually not a cause for concern for the fish but rather aesthetically displeasing to the pond owner. In some cases, the growth of naturally occurring bacteria may be so rapid that within a few hours of using the clarifier, the pond gets hazy again. These situations are usually resolved as liquid nutrients are naturally eliminated from the pond or water garden. The use of Pond Water Clarifier is quite useful in clearing the water short term. Pond owners should use smartpond® Barley Pond Cleaner (below) and Smart Pond Water Clarifier for long term clarity.

Muddy Water in Ponds: All ponds and water gardens can become muddy for various reasons. In most cases, these muddy conditions are short-lived and will clear in several days. Occasionally, a pond will become muddy (or turbid-chocolate brown to chalky gray in color) and will fail to clear on its own due to the distribution of very small clay particles called colloidal clay. These situations may necessitate measures to eliminate the turbidity and prevent future occurrence by adding additives that “bind” the suspended materials together and causing these particles to rapidly sink to the pond bottom. smartpond® Water Clarifier is one of the safest “binding” agents available to the pond or water garden owner.

Green Water in Ponds: Water that is green in color is caused by an algae bloom as a result of excessive nutrients. To treat green water, see smartpond® Algaecide

Instructions

To verify pond size use measurements in feet: Rectangular: length (ft.) x width (ft.) x depth(ft.) x 7.5 = total gallons of water.
Circular: diameter (ft.) x diameter (ft.) x depth (ft.) x 5.9 = total gallons
of water.

Shake well before use. Add one capful (5ml) per each 10 gallons of water. ½ cup (4oz) treats 240 gallons, 1 cup (8oz) treats 480 gallons.

Usage/dosage: smartpond® Water Clarifier utilizes polymer clarifiers which draw dirt and sediment particles into a mass that can be removed by the filter or settle to the bottom of the pond. If the pond is stocked heavily with fish and plants or has not had water changes, use Smart Pond Sludge Remover as well. To treat green water use smartpond® Algaecide for ponds and fountains.
